Most Have Not Figured Out How Much Is Enough For Retirement
According to the latest EBRI Retirement Confidence Study, just 4 in 10 workers report they and/or their spouse have ever tried to calculate how much money they will need to have saved so that they can live comfortably in retirement
And not surprisingly, those that have tried to calculate how much they will need to save for retirement save more and have a higher confidence level about retirement. I’m not sure if this is a chicken and egg thing (that is, if I know I’m not saving for retirement, or I suspect that I’m not saving enough, then I don’t want to know the bad news and therefore won’t run the calculation) or if there is a cost and effect element.
