Essential Investment Tool: Earplugs
In a wonderful article that John S.Tobey wrote last week for Forbes magazine, he points out that an investor needs to block out the noise that surrounds us these days. He notes that the news media frenzy over the U.K.’s vote to leave the European Community was overwhelming speculation and nothing more. He wrote, “That does not mean shutting out the world. We can be interested in the news, but the goal is not to let it affect or interfere with our investing strategy.”
I agree completely. Ignore the news when it comes to investing. Instead, follow the sane investment approach you developed when your were more rational and not affected by the latest, breathless analysis guesswork from the media.
